Walt Disney World - Magic Kingdom

Orlando, Florida

There's no question the setting for this Magic Kingdom has Anaheim beat

Plus they have monorails that actually take you places

But aside from that, the magic is pretty much on par

OK, so the castle is at least 2.5 times more magical

Crowds pour into Main Street, making us glad we'd gotten to the park 2 hours earlier

Taking a hard right, we head into the future

Gotta love the Astro Orbiter, which actually takes to the skies high above Tomorrowland

High enough to get to check out the craziness over by Space Mountain's entrance

Things in space go fast

I know it's blatant merchandising, but it's still pretty cool

Sorry Disneyland, your Tomorrowland will always come in second until you get your Peoplemover running again

We got a bird's eye view of some construction, building a theater

No need to bother with this unless you've never driven, or if there's no line

Across the park we head into the wilderness

This has to be the best example of an update gone completely wrong

The Rivers of America in Frontierland make for a nice vista

I'm convinced this boat is more fun to look at than ride

Here at Disney World, Thunder Mountain is waaaaay in the back, so you gotta earn it

If you manage to make it all the way, try to avoid the cactus

Through the first tunnel and up the lift, you're on your way to frontier fun

There are all kinds of wildlife along the way, though this goat is disappointingly mute

Wild enough to lose a hat, but tame enough to be able to enjoy the view

Your ride conveniently wraps up in front of a Kodak picture spot

It's not quite the Rainbow Ridge they have at Disneyland, but it's still cool

The most devastating part of the vacation, Splash Mountain was down for maintenance

Back across the lagoon, the creepy stylings of the Haunted Mansion can be found

This beloved classic has been updated with a few nice touches

These headstones belie a ride more about camp than terror

Although there's still plenty that may startle you

Over in Mickey's Toontown Fair, we see plenty more clever themeing

Goofy's Barnstormer may be a pretty mundane family coaster, but the immersion is hard to beat

And it wouldn't be a Disney park without a steam train circling the perimeter

Weird, that says Walt Disney World. I'm almost never there

The partners statue, a required picture at every Disney resort

Up close to the ornate Cinderella's Castle

Undernearth you'll find impressive mosiacs depicting her story

Back through to the Fantasyland side, we see the back doesn't look nearly as impressive, or tall

The Snow White's wishing well in all its splendor

One of the many WDW Magic Kingdom downgrades, the Small World ride is similar, but the facade is lacking

Back down Main Street, there's always a lively parade to enjoy

My favorite parade comes out at night, where the whole park takes on a different feel

Even the most stoic among us can't help feel a little nostalgia when the fireworks start
