Blackpool, England Last Visited: October 2010
This time of year, Blackpool is aglow in a dazzling and cheesy attempt to draw crowds after the summer season is a distant memory
History is the name of the game at the Pleasure Beach, cramming in nostalgia around every corner.
Of course they've tried to keep the place modern, and they've become creative in fitting in new attractions.
Case in point, this new Bumper Cars attraction was wedged in with a shoehorn below this classic (and rare) Arrow Shuttle Loop.
And speaking of rare, the only surviving Arrow Steeplechase. Rough, maybe, memorable for sure.
They also mix in some classic dark rides, including this remarkably familiar children's story.
Of course, the highlight is easily the 1994 Arrow behemoth, the Pepsi Max Big One.
Big indeed, it's a landmark coaster having premiered as the world's tallest some 16+ years ago.
Unfortunately it hasn't aged all that well, it's rough and even violent in spots.
But what remains is an overwhelmingly intense experience and a throwback to the beginning of the modern coaster wars.
This is what your brain feels like while riding
And so very many other coasters and attractions abound, often stacked on top of each other.
You'll be surprised how fun it is to pick a direction and count the coasters in your view. Back Home |
